St. Clement Parish in Lakewood is seeking part-time organist.
Candidates must have exceptional organ skills as well as strong reading, accompanying, and improvisational skills. Candidates must also have experience and knowledge of the liturgy of the Roman Rite. The St. Clement parish organist plays for all weekend liturgies (Sat. 4pm, Sunday 9am and 11am), and holy days of obligation, certain civil holidays and special parish liturgies, as well as all choir rehearsals. Adult choir and children's choir both rehearse on Thursday evenings. All weddings and funerals will be available to the parish organist and each pay a stipend per service in addition to salary. Parish Description: The Church of the Resurrection is a Roman Catholic parish of 1200 households in a Southeast suburb of Cleveland (Solon). The parish officially serves a territory that includes Solon, Moreland Hills, Orange and Warrensville Heights as well as parts of Bedford, Chagrin Falls, and Pepper Pike. Nearly 40% of the membership comes from beyond the parish boundaries. The parish was founded in the years following the Second Vatican Council and is strongly committed to full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy as well as outreach to the poor and advocacy for justice in society and in the Church.
Responsibilities: The position includes selection of music, providing keyboard accompaniment and directing and rehearsing volunteer musicians, choir, and cantors for three weekend masses. Position also includes responsibility for a children’s choir, music for all other liturgical and catechetical events, and the production of a series of concerts in the Worship Space (currently three annually). The successful applicant will have a comfort with and appreciation for a variety of styles of liturgical music.
Qualifications: Candidates should have at least a bachelor of music degree or its equivalent and some experience with and knowledge of Catholic liturgical rites and music.

2009-2010

Reports to: Vice President of Mission

Summary of position responsibilities:
Assist music director with the Saint Martin de Porres (gospel) choir.
Participates in yearly performance reviews.

Responsibilities:

1. Accompanies choir for twice weekly practices (Mondays and Thursdays, 3:30-4:30PM).

Accompanies choir for all music ministry, namely, “Chapel” prayer services and all other Masses and prayer services during normal school hours. Normally, these services are held on Mondays, 10:00-11:15AM. (see Official School Calendar)

Accompanies choir for: 2 school Open Houses
Junior Ring Ceremony
Mass of the Holy Spirit and preparatory practices
Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation and their preparatory practices

Collaborates with the Music Director to select music for the choir, plan rehearsals, etc.

Involves student musicians in as many services as possible.

Maintains a positive relationship with choir members.

As much as possible, is available to accompany choir in outside engagements.

Report any equipment problems to campus ministry in a timely manner.
