NPM CHICAGO REPORT – Susanne Sande

From the beautiful Rosemont Convention Center to the exciting city of Chicago, the NPM 2009 Convention was packed full of information, music and activity! Morning prayers and Plenum speakers started the day, there were Breakout Sessions after that, and then Concerts in the evenings.

I attended all 4 Chapter Officer Institute sessions, which covered meetings, finance, programming and technology. This is a good start in helping me to fulfill my new role with our Chapter! I also took a Cantor Master class, attended an excellent session on how to train Cantors, took one on the Liturgical documents and another on Composing for the New Texts.

Much shopping was done at the exhibit booths after each of the choral readings! One booth even offered free massages. All of us enjoyed exploring Chicago and going to the wonderful concerts that were presented, as well as finding good places to wine and dine for fellowship.

Attendees from the Cleveland Diocese included myself, Darlene and Wally Bednarz, Jason Lewis, Charlene McElwee, Ruth Novak, Fr. John Singler, Bob Soeder, John, Mike, Bobby and others. We also met up with NPM member Jeff from Cincinnati. Some of us went out to Maria’s Mexican Restaurant for dinner on Wednesday evening.
